The Roach Hunter Annual Report

When you live in rural Japan, you live with friends; some are good, some are bad and some are downright nasty. Our nasty friends love to pop in for a visit during the rainy season especially although from time to time throught the year we get called upon by them. Cockroaches, poisonous centipedes, wall-devouring mice, stink bugs. You name it they visit. Well, we found someone who is particularly good at destroying the inch-long cockroaches that scuttle about our feet late at night when the lights are low. We call upon him and his skills whenever we feel the need. Care to come for a visit?

Seasons Greetings

Christmas and New Year are a very important part of many cultures. They are important to us too. Important enough to dedicate a few pages of our website to each year. And as the years progress, the pages should increase unless something drastic in our lives occurs.

New Years Greetings

In Japan, we do not send out Christmas cards. Instead, we send out New Year greeting postcards called "Nengajo". These cards are often sent out to every business associate, every company every person who has helped out in some way in the past. That can add up to a lot of nengajo, believe me. Even though our life together in Japan has been for only 10 years, we already have a list of nearly 200 people we must send to. At the current rate of 50 Yen per card, that really adds up. And can you imagine the post office ever lowering their rates in the future? Neither can I.
