Bonsai Okimono The bonsai you see above and the hachi (pot) it is "planted" in are hand-crafted entirely from Japanese paper, or washi. It took Mr. Yoshida nearly a year from when I first asked if he could make such a work of art for me. At first, he thought it would be too difficult to do. But after thinking it over, he decided to give it a try. This bonsai was the most challenging work he has ever undertaken. It needed to be perfect from all sides, look like a real tree, have character and uniqueness. The photo does not do the real piece justice. You need to see it, to touch it, to smell it to feel the real power and beauty of this piece of art. Would you like to see more of Yoshida Ranma works of art?
